Waiatarau Park – in front of the Freemans Bay Community Hall, corner of Hepburn and Wellington Street. A major beautification to this park.
This was the vision of FBRA member Mark van Karthoven. You will often see him (the bearded fellow) adding more plants and mulch, tidying up, and watering in the summer.
The FBRA organised two working bees for members, first spreading truck loads of mulch and after allowing the mulch to break down, and then planting out the area. The project was organised by member Mark van Kathhoven who supplied all the mulch, which members helped spread on the first day.
The FBRA received a grant of approx. $9,000 worth of plants from Auckland Council’s nursery for this project.
